The Press Conference of the 104th China Import and Export Fair (or Canton Fair) was held in Hong Kong on July 25. Vice Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng made a briefing on the reforms of the new Fair and answered relevant questions raised by the press.
Gao said that in order to adapt to the new situation, the 104th Canton Fair which opens on Oct. 15, 2008, would change its complexes and opening phases. Starting from the 104th Fair, Liuhua Complex shall no longer be in use and all the exhibition shall be held in Pazhou Complex. And the Fair shall be divided into 3 phases, each shall last 5 days, in accordance with the specialized requirements.
Gao pointed out that the Canton Fair was an important platform for China’s foreign trade, as well as the witness for the history of China’s economic development and the opening to the outside world. It has maintained a laudable reputation with the long history, large scale, the largest purchasers’ presence, sufficient kinds of commodities and the best trading results ever achieved in China’s exhibition history over the past 50-odd years, which in turn became the friendship link and trading bridge between China’s industrial and commercial circles and their foreign counterparts. The changes of the 104th Fair shall become an international trading platform with larger scale, more opening-up, more specialization, and better services and results. It shall provide more business opportunities for the exhibitors from all over the world and promote the win-win situation and joint development for both the Chinese and foreign enterprises.
Gao thanked the industrial, commercial and trade circles of Macao and HK for their lasting and high attention to, active participation in and great support to the Canton Fair. He welcomed the friends from all communities to visit Pazhou in October 2008, as to make proposals and suggestions to create an even more splendid Canton Fair.
