Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe on Friday hailed the strong bilateral relations between his country and China.
He made the remarks after watching an acrobatic and dance performance by the visiting Shanghai Acrobatic and Dance Group to commemorate 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
He said the visit by the arts group was also a demonstration of warm and "very, very intimate" relations that exists between the two countries.
Mugabe described the show as fantastic and a demonstration of discipline, of extensive and intensive training and of the element of dance and rhythm that was very rare in the Zimbabwean society.
"It is a demonstration that perhaps our own young people should watch and try to emulate," he said.
Mugabe has also passed a condolence message to China over the earthquake in Qinghai province which killed at least 2,200 people and left more than 100,000 homeless two weeks ago.
Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Xin Shunkang hailed the two countries' efforts in consolidating friendship and bilateral relations over the past 30 years.
He pledged China's continued assistance to Zimbabwe, revealing that the Asian country will implement several projects in Zimbabwe over the next three years.
The projects will be in fulfillment of eight cooperation measures enunciated by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the fourth ministerial conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Egypt last year.
Among the projects will be the construction of one more primary and secondary school, a solar generation station, one small hydro power station ad a bio-gas project.
A new hospital will also be constructed, as well boreholes for irrigation purposes.
The Chinese government has since built two primary schools and a hospital in Zimbabwe as part of cooperation projects under FOCAC. The ambassador also said China will erect giant screen in the capital Harare for the FIFA 2010 Soccer World Cup to be hosted by South Africa in June.
Regarding the Shanghai 2010 Expo which began on Friday, the ambassador said it was a rare opportunity for Zimbabwe to seek potential investors.
